ACADEMIC POSITION DIVISION OF GERIATRIC MEDICINE

The Department of Medicine, Division of Geriatric Medicine, Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry, at Western University, and its affiliated hospitals are seeking a Geriatrician for a full-time clinical academic appointment to Western. Applicants should be certified, or eligible for certification, in Geriatrics by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, or equivalent. Candidates must have an MD or equivalent, and must be eligible for licensure in the province of Ontario.

Western is situated in picturesque London, Ontario, a city of approximately 360,000 along the banks of the Thames River. The City of London is a vibrant community with many family-friendly amenities and has one of the lowest cost of living rates in Ontario and is located 2 hours from Toronto and Detroit. Western is a prominent academic institution that has made a commitment to balance its teaching and research mission and excels as a research intensive university. Applicants for this position will also have a commitment to, and demonstrated aptitude for, teaching and will be expected to teach at the undergraduate and graduate levels and to supervise graduate trainees. Expected role includes education of fellows, residents and medical students in an ACE Unit, out-patient, and community/regional outreach setting.

Opportunities include innovative team and educational program development. A candidate must be fellowship trained in Geriatrics, and BC/BE in Internal Medicine. Consideration of applicants will include an assessment of previous performance, qualifications, including qualifications which go beyond the requirements for the position, and experience. The financial arrangement is competitive. Rank, term of appointment and salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
