Position Details

Our client an international organisation, leads in its field, exporting high value protein based products to international markets. With a focus on extending its range of cutting edge products it operates from a state of the art protein purification facility, taking pride in meeting the exacting product standards of its international customers. Due to the overseas posting of its incumbent, the organisation is seeking a consummate professional to guide the facility through growth and innovation, whilst concertedly driving overall profitability.

Located in their facility, in a major North Island city, the role reports through to an overseas based Managing Director and manages a highly skilled team of science professionals, from R&D through to manufacturing, product release, marketing and sales. This role has considerable autonomy and the appointee will need to have an impressive history in achieving operational and financial goals in international, R&D based biotechnology organisations.

Your key responsibilities will include:

•   Providing visionary leadership and driving financial performance
•   Contributing to the development of long range strategies and business plans
•   Developing strategic plans and directing business growth within authorised capital expenditure budgets
•   Structuring the business to effectively deliver best outcomes for all stakeholders.
•   Developing and implementing the business in line with core global growth strategies and demand
•   Leading through new business initiatives and growing existing business through R&D initiatives, operational change and productivity improvements.
•   Ensuring financial targets and business development objectives are met through gross margin improvements and operating expenses as product demand expands.
•   Maintaining required safety and security standards and ensuring diligent maintenance of all infrastructure, plant equipment, tools, etc.
•   Demonstrating leadership and commitment to health, safety and well-being of employees whilst cultivating a high performance workplace.

Requirements


To be successful in this role, you will ideally have:

•   Tertiary qualifications in Biotechnology (PhD pref.) with business qualifications highly favoured.
•   Experience managing full Profit and Loss of $NZ8M plus.
•   Experience operating ISO 9001 or ISO 13485 facilities
•   Senior level experience (min 4 years) in the management of operations, R&D and Commercial teams, with strong financial acumen and controls in a biotech and/or pharma environment
•   Solid commercial and operational experience, gained in international biotechnology and commercialisation sectors is essential

Articulate and mature communications skills are essential, from the production floor through all aspects of the operation, including collaboration with overseas colleagues and facilities, stake holders and international compliance authorities. Your energy, strong work ethic and relish of a growth, innovative work setting are eagerly sought.
