Date Posted  Apr 9, 2013 Financial/Management Analyst JCC 2258/Range 3P3 The H&S Financial Analyst is a member of the H&S Dean’s Office finance team reporting to the Manager, Accounting and Department Liaisons. This group is responsible for managing a $400 million consolidated budget and developing, implementing and managing financial systems that support the School. This position’s responsibilities are focused on liaison support for a group of departments and programs and providing analysis and decision support for the Dean’s Office. Major Areas of Responsibility Include:Annual Accounting Cycle
*Participates in team efforts related to the annual accounting cycle, including annual budget development, consolidated budget forecasts, variance analysis reporting and annual close of the School’s financial books.
*Assists in the management of complex Excel templates and databases used by the Dean’s Office and departments in each portion of the annual accounting cycle. Monitors departmental use of templates, ensuring data integrity; helps to consolidate data from templates and databases and interface data sets with Oracle and Hyperion systems.Financial Analysis & Special Projects
*Performs in-depth financial analyses on H&S departments/programs and other areas as assigned by the supervisor; gathers and interprets data, creates financial analyses to support decisions made by Director of Finance and senior school management.
*Participates in the production of routine and quarterly financial reporting for Dean’s Office as assigned.
*Develops and produces special reports or analyses as needed or assigned by supervisor.
*Contributes to the development of systems of internal controls, policies and procedures.
*Participates in development, implementation, and maintenance of internal financial systems Department Support
*Serves as primary finance liaison between Dean’s Office and assigned departments and interdepartmental programs.
*For assigned departments and programs:-Manages budget development and year-end close processes-Provides ad-hoc support and training -Coordinates with department administrators and senior associate dean associates on mid-year funding commitment transfers and reporting-Provides other financial and analytical support to departments and programs including variance analysis and analysis of department controlled funds-Creates and/or processes fund transfers and operating budget reallocations-Sets up new non-sponsored accounts Qualifications
*Bachelors degree in business, finance or accounting required, or 5-6 years of equivalent experience
*Experience at Stanford or other university preferred
*Candidate must have very strong analytical & computer skills including Excel and relational database expertise; working knowledge of Stanford University financial and decisions support systems software (Oracle Financial system, Business Objects, Hyperion Planning) preferred
*Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills required
*Ability to work in a fast-paced, multitasking environment; ability to work in ambiguous or undefined situations required
