Description

Using extensive knowledge of customer needs and New England Biolabs’ product offering, the person in this position will be accountable for overseeing customer account development, marketing and technical sales activities within a given geographic territory (Ohio to Iowa and south to Missouri). The ideal candidate will be based in Chicago IL, Madison WI or St. Louis MO.

Primary Responsibilities:
• Meet and/or exceed territory sales goals both for the overall region as well as specific account and product sales targets.
• Work with the Marketing Department to create and implement a strategic business plan for their territory.
• Develop, expand and maintain good working relationships with accounts in their territory, including all Freezer Programs, industrial accounts, research institutes and hospitals.
• Attend local and national trade shows.
• Identify and support new business opportunities that include potential bulk/OEM deals and new Freezer Programs.
• Provide regular feedback about account development, sales growth, campaigns and competitive information.
• Provide feedback that contributes to product portfolio diversification.
• Maintain a customer database with appropriate contacts.
• Organize sales presentations, workshops and scientific seminars in the region, as needed.
• Participate in training programs at NEB headquarters and other regions, as needed.

Requirements

Preferred Qualifications:
• Advanced degree in the life science field.
• Must be able to interface comfortably at high levels within the customer management structure and possess strong relationship building skills.
• Demonstrate knowledge of sales skills and the sales process.
• Demonstrate knowledge of NEB products, methodologies or markets.
• Be self motivated with the ability to work both independently and in a team.
• Have excellent listening, written and oral communication skills.
• Be willing to travel (>50% travel).

Required Qualifications:
• Minimum of a Bachelor of Science in life science field, with knowledge of the cell biology and molecular biology markets.
• 1-2 years hands-on lab experience.
• Minimum of 2 years of proven sales experience and achievements in the life science market.
