Job Description

Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center at the Permian Basin Surgery Department is seeking a Surgeon to join our Faculty!

Provides and manages direct patient care, including physical examinations, evaluations, assessments, diagnoses and treatment for a specified patient population; Prescribes pharmaceuticals, other medications, and treatment regimens as appropriate to assessed medical conditions; Utilizes specialists and referrals as appropriate; Trains and supervises residents and students as appropriate; May manage the daily operations of a specific medical program, patient care unit, or research function; Directs and coordinates the patient care activities of nursing and support staff as required; Follows established departmental policies, procedures, and objectives, continuous quality improvement objectives, and safety environment, and/or infection control standards; As appropriate to the position, participates in specified health promotion, education, and/or prevention programs; Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.  


Graduation from an accredited school of medicine with an M.D. or D.O. degree. Must have a license to practice medicine in the State of Texas or eligible for Texas medical licensure. Must have or be eligible for certificate(s) for prescribing controlled substances.


The Permian Basin campus of Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center is located in Odessa, Texas with additional facilities in Midland. The Permian Basin serves a rapidly growing region of approximately 250,000 people, due to the Oil boom here! Texas Tech physicians provide care through our outpatient medical clinics in Odessa and Midland. Our physicians provide care in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Behavioral Health, Surgery, and Pediatrics. We sponsor residency programs in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, and Obstetrics and Gynecology. West Texas home to open skies, beautiful sunsets, and friendly people, it is an ideal place to live year round. Our temperate Southwest climate offers unlimited outdoor activities.
