Position Summary

The Department of Radiology and the Biomedical Research Imaging Center (BRIC) at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill invites applications for an Assistant Professor to Professor (tenure track/tenured) level faculty position with extensive research portfolios on MR RF coil design for high field imaging. Specifically, candidates with experience on developing RF coils and parallel transit/receive coils for high field magnetic resonance imaging (7T) is preferred. The candidates will join a multi-disciplinary imaging research team, with expertise ranging from imaging acquisition, image analysis, pre-clinical and translational clinical research, to imaging probe design. Substantial investment by the State of North Carolina has been dedicated to the development of a comprehensive imaging research program at UNC-Chapel Hill, including faculty positions, imaging equipment and a new building to house the BRIC. A comprehensive collection of human and animal imaging systems is currently housed in the BRIC, including a 3T whole body MR and a hybrid PET-MR scanner for human imaging and a 9.4T MR scanner, a PET/CT, a SPECT/CT, a carbon-nanotube CT, a specimen CT, optical imaging systems and ultrasound systems for animal imaging, respectively. In addition, a 7T whole body MR scanner, a cyclotron, a radiochemistry lab, and a whole body PET/CT scanner will be installed upon the completion of the new building.

Educational Requirements

Qualified candidates should have a doctoral degree in the Biomedical or equivalent areas.
