As an In House Facilities Specialist-Building Automation Operator in Waltham, MA you’ll play a pivotal role in channeling our scientific capabilities to make a positive impact on changing patients’ lives.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
In this exciting role, you will have the opportunity to provide support for technical optimization, training, and management of the building Automation System, Controls, and Critical Alarms. You'll coordinate, supervise and oversee third party contractors, ensuring work is completed in a highly collaborative teamwork environment, relying on strong interpersonal communication and extensive use of computer aided business programs. You will need to communicate daily with employees of AstraZeneca and the Biohub working to bring the right balance of resources to solve problems, while acting as a member of the core Facility system monitoring group through proficiency with Johnson Controls, Simplex fire systems, Access controls, CCTV etc. You will be trained to utilize, implement and maintain Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) for work orders, repairs, PM’s, and inventory control. Supervision, scheduling and coordination of contractors for repair and maintenance of assigned equipment through use of multiple vendors, will be required, along with providing technical assistance with review of data from energy management systems, including troubleshooting, diagnostics, and energy savings analysis, and actively supporting company and department commitment to safety excellence.
Additionally, in this role, you will be required to maintain safe work areas and equipment, comply with and promote company safety policy, procedures, PPE, training, etc., ensure safety culture and requirements are upheld by related contractors as well, and serve as the primary member of building emergency response team. You will also be responsible for ensuring all work, including contract work, conforms to AstraZeneca, local, state and federal rules and regulations, supporting projects, representing facilities HVAC, Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing systems functions on project teams as required. You'll have the opportunity to review specifications and installations to confirm compliance with deliverables, contract drawings, codes, and site standards, verify acceptable documentation received from project closeouts, and coordinate and perform installations as required to support daily and project requirements.
- 3-5 years of industrial or commercial experience working with complex HVAC and facilities equipment with at least five years’ experience in digital/analog, electrical, and pneumatic control systems.
- Bachelor’s degree
- Strong computer skills required - Microsoft office and Outlook.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Required to pass FBI background check as a trusted and reliable person
- Must be able to be “on call” as required and carry a cell phone to respond to facility emergencies.
- Prior supervisory or contractor management experience
Internal and External Contacts/Customers
- Work internally with all AstraZeneca Site departments
- Work externally with AstraZeneca personnel, Biohub companies, vendors, contractors, and consultants as required.
