Job Summary
The Executive Director of Medical Affairs Strategic Research is responsible for leading the broad evidence generation needs of the portfolio of pain products at Purdue Pharma. This is a Team Leader role, responsible for establishing objectives and strategies to optimize product value in collaboration with the medical, health policy, commercial, research & development, and sales organizations and Executive officers. The person in this position will manage a team of colleagues, developing performance indicators; and measuring progress toward the achievement of the team’s objectives. The position is responsible for developing scientific evidence needed to diversify into new service and/or pain product offerings, effectively position products for regulatory and commercial success, translate projects into effective communication to internal and external stakeholders, and ensuring products meet both patient and broader public health needs. This is a high visibility position, thus the candidate must possess exceptional presentation and written communication skills and be able to interact effectively with senior executives and members of the Board.
Primary Responsibilities
Lead and oversee:
• Real-world value demonstration for marketed products
- Collaborate on product strategy with medical and commercial team product leads
- Oversee product analytics, economic modeling, epidemiology, and other key value evidence generation and tools
-  Work with managed markets to develop and oversee execution of analytics for value-based pricing and contracting
• Investigator Initiated Research
• Effective launch of newly approved products
- Collaborate with asset teams in medical and commercial on launch strategy
- Oversee analytics and publications to demonstrate unmet need and the value of differentiated new product attributes
-  Work with commercial, sales, managed markets and medical services on translation of data into support materials (vis-aids, AMCP dossier, etc.)
• Disease management and public health
- Collaborate with customers on disease management study design and execution
- Work closely with government affairs to support policy work to improve both pain management and broader public health
•  Work with members of the epidemiology and drug safety teams to complete and communicate post-marketing requirements for products in the pain area
For assigned area:
• Provide single-point accountability
• Understand the needs of internal and external stakeholders, and develop and execute a vision for the future of evidence needs and value creation
• Develop effective communication of strategy, tactics and project results
• Develop an integrated research program that leverages data across data types
Education and Experience
The Executive Director will have a minimum of 10 years of experience in the healthcare industry, demonstrating thought leadership and strong publication history. The Executive Director will have direct experience interacting with FDA on pre- and post-approval products. The Executive Director must have previous experience in pain products, and ideally experience with both opioid and non-opioid products. The Executive Director will have a proven track record of successfully translating analytics and models into actionable and evaluable products and/or interventions
An advanced science degree (MD; PhD in epidemiology, statistics, psychology, public health) or practice degree (PharmD) is required, along with an understanding of the drug development process and applied pharmacoeconomics and health outcomes. Experience working effectively with key external stakeholders (policy makers, payers, providers, other healthcare companies) is required.

• Ability to manage budgets  and set clear priorities in managing complex projects internally, with customers, and with external vendors under short timelines
