Executive Director, Marketing
Location: San Mateo, CA

ZS Pharma Inc., (an AstraZeneca Group Company) is committed to advancing patient care by developing new therapeutic compounds to treat serious conditions related to kidney, cardiovascular and liver diseases. Our lead investigational therapy, sodium zirconium cyclosilicate, (ZS-9) is a novel agent for the treatment of Hyperkalemia, a potentially life-threatening condition characterized by abnormally high levels of potassium in the blood.

SUMMARY:
The Executive Director Marketing is responsible for leading the definition, design, execution and measurement of Roxadustat strategy across the target audiences. This role is expected to partner effectively with Brand and Portfolio peers/ teams, Sales, Commercial Operations, and Managed Markets teams. The Executive Director will work closely with the Commercial Insights Director on the planning of all insight work including but not limited to primary and secondary research, database management, and ROI measurements.

This position will be responsible for aligning a diverse team around a clear vision and purpose while leading, inspiring, developing and motivating the team to successfully achieve individual and organizational objectives. This position will also be responsible for ensuring that the size and structure for the team is fit for purpose. This position will be responsible for the pre-launch and launch planning and execution of the Marketing strategies and objectives including development of positioning and messaging.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

•   Lead the strategic direction, design, execution
•   Responsible for establishing and communicating the brand vision and purpose and communicating it clearly with authenticity
•   Accountable for leading, hiring, developing and assessing talent to shape the culture and develop a diverse pipeline of Marketing leaders
•   Responsible for leading the creation of an integrated channel marketing strategy
•   Partner closely with sales teams to engage Field Sales around brand opportunities and mission, monitor performance, ensure message pull through and uncover opportunities and issues in execution
•   Responsible for leading the following key work: marketing strategies, brand positioning, core messaging and campaign, new markets/channel development, sales integration, sales execution and ROI analysis
•   Makes informed decisions around P&L and drivers of revenue and contribution; appropriately, challenges forecast assumptions.
•   Support the design and implementation of launch/life cycle management plans that are responsive to patient needs, whether explicit or latent
•   Collaborate with Managed Markets to produce a value story and pricing model
•   Assess the investment viability in innovative brand programs, using economic sensitivity analysis, spend/sales scenario planning, and ROI variables to gauge risk and go/no go decisions
•   Evaluate new program rollout based on the findings of test markets, pilots, or models
•   Effectively work across the Commercial interface to successfully build relationships and drive performance collectively through all marketing and sales channel
•   Collaborate with other functional areas to ensure promotional planning is consistent with legal/regulatory compliance
•   Create sustainable, long-term relationships with thought leader advocates and customer advocacy group

Requirements

REQUIREMENTS:  

•   Bachelor’s Degree (Science or Business discipline is a plus)
•   MBA or other related graduate-level degree preferred
•   6+ years pharmaceutical/biotech marketing experience
•   Proven success in marketing (Cardiology, Nephrology experience preferred)
•   Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to lead, interact with, focus, resolve conflict and drive consensus among individuals from a variety of cultures, and disciplines
•   Demonstrated ability to effectively lead and influence individuals at all levels and cross-functionally
•   Exceptional oral and written communications skills with the capacity to present effectively to a diverse range of audiences
•   Sound business judgment, ethical behavior, decisiveness, and strategic vision
•   Experience building strong external relationships within a therapy ecosystem across healthcare professionals, payers, and patient groups
•   Experience launching innovative products
•   Successful delivery of strategic and operational plans within a therapeutic or business area
•   Strong financial acumen with the ability to assess and drive results
•   Strong understanding of local healthcare system pricing and reimbursement
•   Strong presentation and negotiation skills.
