Job Focus
Using electrophysiological and/or radioligand binding techniques, design and conduct in vitro and in vivo studies characterizing the pharmacological interactions of drugs with their molecular targets. Generation of quantitative data sufficient to characterize and drive decisions on novel compounds. Contribute to team efforts to translate from in vitro to in vivo assessments of drug/target interactions.

Responsibilities
Generates and analyzes data, ideas, processes or tools and may on occasion presents own work at meetings when needed.
Self-sufficient contributor to own working group or project. Interprets experimental outcomes to impact drug discovery process.
Reviews literature to identify new or optimize current assays, methods, technologies, or process.
Authors internal reports or posters; may contribute to external publications or posters.

Qualifications
Required:
BSc or MSc with a minimum of two years experience.
A strong background in neuroscience with an interest in psychiatric disease.
Minimum of two years experience in a lab setting performing pharmacological experiments.
Experience in animal handling: drug administration, tissue collection and brain dissection.
Experience in electrophysiological techniques and/or radioligand binding techniques.
Data analysis including statistical and graphic analysis of data.
Evidence of strong communication, both verbal and written.
Excellent organizational skills.
Ability to excel in a collaborative environment, working both as an individual and as part of a team.

Preferred:
Electrophysiological techniques: in vitro brain slice; in vivo anaesthetized or freely moving rat electrophysiology.
Radioligand binding studies: in vitro, ex vivo or in vivo; receptor occupancy.
Experience with MatLab or LabView software for electrophysiological data acquisition and analysis.
