Job Description

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
The Facilities Maintenance and Engineering (FME) Directorate is responsible for laboratory space, administrative space, infrastructure, campus landscape, planning, and design, and construction management at Frederick National Laboratory for Cancer Research.

KEY ROLES/RESPONSIBILITIES- Electronics Technician

Specifies and requests purchase of components
Analyzes results and may develop test specifications and electrical schematics
Maintains all logs and required documentation
Maintains spare parts inventory
May prepare technical reports with recommendations for solutions to technical problems

Requirements

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
To be considered for this position, you must minimally meet the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed below:

High School Diploma or equivalent
6 years of experience testing, troubleshooting, calibration and repair on a variety of circuits, components, analytical equipment and instrumentation for laboratory and manufacturing equipment
Ability to read electrical schematics and blue prints
Ability to diagnose and repair malfunctions on a wide variety of electronic, pneumatic, electrical and mechanical instruments, (VFD’s/hardware controls)
Experience in safety practices in the trade
Ability to routinely lift and carry up to 40-50 lbs.
Walking, standing, climbing stairs, bending, stooping, and working in confined areas, potential exposure to particulates, vapors or noisy environment
Must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Candidates with these desired skills will be given preferential consideration:

Experience in a wide range of precision electronic testing equipment
Experience in a wide variety of complex electronic controls, sensory and recording systems used in research
Knowledge of advanced electronic, pneumatic and mechanical principles
Building Automation Systems (BAS) background
Use of Blue Mountain software GMP maintenance and calibration
