Director, Therapeutic Areas and Support

The Director of the HCV Therapeutic Area Team is responsible for effectively developing and implementing medical education materials for the Medical Affairs department, providing strategic oversight to the medical review of promotional and non-promotional materials and assisting with the medical strategy and leadership of the HCV cross-functional team.  The role will interface with multiple internal functions including marketing, sales, field medical, medical information, sales, health outcomes, managed care, regulatory, legal, clinical development and safety as well as external partners and physicians in the community.  The role will be primarily focused on our marketed compound INCIVEK but could expand in the future to support our HCV pipeline products and partnerships.

The position will report into the Senior Director of HCV Therapeutic Area Support team.

Key responsibilities:

-    Provide input surrounding the creation and implementation of medical education plans that are targeted to different audiences and aligned with overall Medical Education and Medical Affairs strategies

-    Provide medical input on the development of promotional and sales training materials

-    Represent Medical Affairs on cross functional review committees

-    Provide guidance and medical input to differentiate products and appropriate safety/risk benefit information.

-    Participate in a cross-functional medical affairs team with the goal of developing and implementing a local, integrated medical strategy for HCV therapeutic products

-    Responsible for medical interpretation of data (clinical trials, registries, published literature, etc) and development of communication tactics

-    Collaborate with the field medical team and support reactive material develop to address their healthcare provider questions

-    Serve on cross-functional committees and teams representing Medical Affairs

-    Closely work and support efforts from Therapeutic Lead when necessary

-    Assist in the building and implementation of the HCV Medical Affairs departmental strategy

-    Work closely with Key Opinion Leaders in the development of educational materials, facilitation of advisory board meetings and speaker training initiatives

-    Doctorate degree or clinical degree (MD, PharmD, PhD, NP, PA, etc) with at least 8 years of industry experience within medical affairs.

-    Experience developing educational materials for medical audiences from within the pharmaceutical industry or specialized medical communications agency and serving as the medical reviewer on cross functional review committees

-    Strong sense of responsibility and urgency, with the desire to work independently in diverse teams involving multi-functional disciplines, take ownership of projects, be flexible, manage budgets and manage simultaneous priorities under changing deadlines

Preferred qualifications:

-    Ability to work in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment as well as a proven track record of working effectively in diverse teams involving multi-functional disciplines

-    Demonstrated ability in driving results to a positive outcome

-    Proven ability to develop internal relationships in a highly matrix environment as well as external relationships with thought leaders and industry experts

-    Possess the ability to engage in positive dialogues, influence outcomes and resolve conflicts in a constructive manner

-    Knowledgeable of the legal and regulatory framework applicable to pharmaceutical communications to patients and prescribing physicians

-    Educational or experience background in HCV or Virology preferred
