Description

The Director of Sourcing and Procurement is responsible for sourcing, developing, directing, and implementing all procurement and material planning programs, and policies in support of Corporate business, including purchasing and MRP’s for the diagnostics business.

Responsibilities:

*Manage the daily operations of the Purchasing Department to ensure that the material and service requirements of Sequenom are met in a timely, efficient, effective and ethical manner.

*Provide oversight of all purchases in the development and review of contracts, compliance with procurement policies and procedures. Additionally, ensure compliance with all applicable Federal and State rules and regulations having jurisdiction over the products and services required.

*Provide continuous staff development opportunities to ensure staff possesses sufficient training and required skill levels to perform their assigned tasks in a proficient manner; ensure proficiency is maintained in current technologies.

*Evaluate, make recommendations and develop Company-wide purchasing policies and procedures for implementation of standards that represent best purchasing methods.

*Direct supply chain development and manage vendor relationships and performance.

*Lead the purchasing and material requirements planning (MRP)for the diagnostics business.

*Review direct cost of materials including all financial variances associated with material usage, and overhead.

*Comply with all Sarbanes-Oxley narratives (material receipts, shipments, and storage).

*Manage activities supporting cost reduction goals and development of materials strategies to minimize risk and secure continued supply of quality materials.

*Work with Sales and Operations, and CLIA laboratories to ensure customer service and operations meet quality metrics and with Finance on cost goals and planning.

Requirements

The ideal candidate will have:

*BS or BA degree in business, finance or related field.

*Technical knowledge concerning manufacturing operations in a cGMP or ISO-regulated environment required with knowledge of ISO 13485.

*Lean and/or Six Sigma process improvement skills desired.



*Minimum of 10 years of experience with 7 years at the management level in a pharmaceutical or medical device environment.

*Strong supervisory skills.

*Experience with ERP systems, purchasing, manufacturing and shop floor controls (BOMs, routings, MRP), planning, scheduling, materials, logistics, sub-contractors, material work flow and industrial lab production principles.

*Experience with manufacturing operations in a CAP/CLIA or ISO-regulated environment.

*Experience negotiating contracts and agreements with suppliers.

*Ability to work in a team environment and consistently meet critical deadlines.
