Description

Organize and lead Drug Delivery Group at Novartis San Carlos. Leverage specific San Carlos expertise by leading a multidisciplinary cross-functional drug delivery (DD) team. Maintain awareness of external DD technologies through literature, business contacts and in-house evaluations. Develop in-house technology as and where applicable seek needs within Novartis & across Technical Research and Development (TRD). Develop new and novel processes techniques and apply to Novartis product opportunities. To Lead DD opportunities with TRD. To assist BD&L with diligence activities on new DD technologies/opportunities. Directs the activities of a scientific group in the research and/or development of an organization's products, projects and programs. Conducts and collaborates with others on basic and applied research and development relevant to long-term objectives and concerns. Writes and reviews manuscripts for publication, development reports and submissions to health authorities. Develops strategies to ensure effective achievement of scientific objectives. Monitors and evaluates completion of tasks and projects. May develop budgets for capital expenditures and labor. Typically participates with other top managers to establish company policies. Makes final decision on administrative or operational matters. Selects, develops, and evaluates personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function.

Requirements

A minimum of a Bachelors degree in a scientific or engineering discipline is required. An advanced degree is highly desired.
Equivalent experience may be accepted.
A minimum of 13 years experience in the pharmaceutical or other technology based product research, development or manufacturing industry is required. A minimum of 10 years previous management experience is required.
Must have a proven track record of managing and advancing both groups and projects in a technology based industry.
Expertise in pharmaceutical research and/or development is a must. Experience in writing scientific and regulatory documents is required.
