This position can be filled at either the Sr. Dirctor or the Director level. We are seeking candidates with an M.D, Ph.D., M.D./Ph.D. or equivalent, with experience in cardiovascular and metabolic diseases (CV/MD) and with a particular emphasis in translational approaches to biologics development leading to clinical proof of concept.
The successful candidate must have a firm understanding of the mechanistic basis of human disease to drive target evaluation, biomarker selection and personalized healthcare (PHC) strategies, and will play a key role in translating preclinical learnings to impact early clinical development of novel biologics to treat cardiovascular and metabolic diseases. An understanding of translational approaches as they pertain to clinical trial design and regulatory process, proof-of-concept studies, and identification and implementation of biomarkers and diagnostics is required. The individual will serve as a key team player to develop, lead and manage translational activities related to projects in the CV/MD portfolio, which has a major focus in diabetes, obesity and gut peptides, while assuring close alignment with CV/MD research and clinical teams. The ability to generate and lead a sound, science-based translational strategy, including the ability to design, execute and analyze translational biomarker studies, in support of the clinical development of biologic therapeutics, with an emphasis on developing a PHC approach to identify patients likely to respond to the agent under development, is essential. The individual must have a proven background in research and early clinical development of biologic therapeutics, biomarker assay development and execution in clinical settings, clinical research and clinical operations, and regulatory requirements. Strong project planning skills, management skills and experience with IND-enabling studies and clinical trials are also required, as is previous industry experience with a record of effective project leadership and a good understanding of the drug development process, from lead identification through clinical trials. The successful candidate should be able to work productively in a matrix team environment, as well as take ownership of multiple projects. The individual will support programs within MedImmune's CV/MD franchise and will serve on product development, clinical and translational sciences (sub)teams. Excellent written, oral, presentation and interpersonal skills are required.
For either the Sr. Director level or teh Director level we require an M.D., Ph.D., M.D./Ph.D. or equivalent with at least 13 years of experience including industry experience in research and development of novel therapeutics for the treatment of cardiovascular and metabolic diseases.
