Job Description

This position is a field-based Regional Director Position in the Hematology-Oncology Regional Medical Liaison group within Scientific Affairs. This position will be responsible for managing a team of field-based Regional Medical Liaisons responsible for the Midwest region of the United States. The Midwest region is comprised of MN, ND, SD, IA, NE, MO, IL, OH, KS, TN, KS, AR, MI, IN, KY, WI. Responsibilities include:

1) Champion RML initiatives and ideas from the field to the home office Business Unit, scientific affairs and clinical development functions with the RML Executive Director driving objectives and metrics for RML accountabilities

2) lead or participate in cross-functional committees to develop and implement strategy related to RML support of the business

3) coach and mentor direct reports

4) work with Global Therapeutic Knowledge Training and Scientific Affairs to determine the content and execution of training programs to support RMLs

5) build a home office network across respective Business Unit and represent RML interests,

6) provide input and influence decisions as necessary

7) clearly communicate regional RML guidance, direction and expectations to the field per the national Scientific Engagement Plan (SEP)

8) review and sign off on business plans and objectives of regional RMLs

9) allocate resources consistent with priorities

10) represent Amgen by participating in advisory boards, congresses and professional association meetings

11) maintain appropriate opinion leader relationships as directed by RML Executive Director

12) participate or oversee RML input into the review and editing of slide materials and other resources developed for RML utilization

13) Communicate with commercial field management.


Basic Qualifications:
Doctorate degree and 4 years of Regional Medical Liaison experience


Master's degree and 8 years of Regional Medical Liaison experience


Bachelor's degree and 10 years of Regional Medical Liaison experience AND 4 years of managerial experience directly managing people and/or leadership experience leading teams, projects, programs or directing the allocation of resources

Preferred Qualifications:
Pharm.D., Ph.D., M.D. or D.O. 10+ years of related experience in total (post-doctoral training i.e., residencies and/or fellowships -- can be a part of this related experience), 5+ years of clinical experience (beyond post-doctoral training) 5+ years of Medical Liaison experience, 5 years of experience leading/managing project teams (hematology, oncology therapeutic area knowledge highly
