Job Description

Due to our continued growth, there is an excellent opportunity for a Development Associate lll, Virus Development in our manufacturing group.    As the Development Associate lll, you will perform experiments for development of robust, industrial processes for Bellicum’s virus production programs, as well as performing ongoing studies for improvement of such processes.  The candidate in this role is expected to have a background in the manufacture and analysis of biotechnology products, preferably virus-based products.  The successful candidate will work within a multi-disciplinary team to advance the development of virus manufacturing processes to support human clinical studies.

Roles and Responsibilities

•   Conduct experiments studying the various operations used to produce Bellicum’s viral products, which include cell culture in flasks and larger vessels, and filtration and fill/finish procedures
•   Perform aseptic cell culture activities on cell lines as adherent or suspension cultures
•   Utilize analytical equipment to analyze cells, media, and other solutions (examples flow cytometer, cell counter, pH meter)
•   Compile and write technical reports, protocols, SOP’s and be able to present data to colleagues, as needed
•   Interact with members of other Bellicum functional teams (e.g. Research) where required
•   Must successfully participate in process development from product concept stage through clinical stage, including initial implementation activities, transferring production processes to manufacturing, and applications of quality process to ensure compliance
•   Maintain laboratory notebook and be thorough in documentation of data and analysis
•   Perform other duties as assigned and/or required


•   Masters’ degree in chemistry or biological sciences, or related discipline with a minimum of 2-3 years of related work experience, or a Bachelors’ degree with 5+ years of related work experience
•   Should be motivated and capable of creativity, and can exercise judgment in conducting experiments when guided by superiors
•   Strong attention to detail by exercising judgement within defined practices
•   Proven communication skills, both oral and written, with the ability to perform detailed data analysis
•   Must be able to adhere to deadlines
•   Proficient with Microsoft Office
