As a Consumer Portfolio Marketing Manager, Lung Cancer in Gaithersburg, MD you’ll play a pivotal role in channeling our scientific capabilities to make a positive impact on changing patients’ lives. Astra Zeneca’s vision in Oncology is to help patients by redefining the cancer-treatment paradigm, with the aim of bringing six new cancer medicines to patients between 2013 and 2020. A broad pipeline of next-generation medicines is focused principally on four disease areas - breast, ovarian, lung and hematological cancers. As well as other tumor types, these are being targeted through four key platforms - immunotherapy, the genetic drivers of cancer and resistance, DNA damage repair, and antibody drug conjugates, underpinned by personalized healthcare and biomarker technologies.
The Consumer Portfolio Marketing Manager (PMM) will be responsible for the integrated implementation of the promotional brand plans across the Lung Cancer Franchise, including IRESSA, TAGRISSO and LVNG With Lung Cancer. This position will support our Consumer Marketing communication efforts with people diagnosed with Lung Cancer and their loved ones. The PMM is responsible for providing the consumer voice throughout integrated marketing to improve patient outcomes. We are seeking a strong marketer with a passion for Putting Patients First.
This position will report into the Associate Director, Consumer Marketing for the Lung Cancer Franchise, and will work in close partnership with product-specific Brand Managers/Directors. The role will work collaboratively across the Lung Cancer Franchise team and will play a critical role in integrating the execution of our marketing plan across multiple products within the franchise.
This position is based at our Gaithersburg, MD campus, headquarters for our US Oncology and other Specialty Care businesses as well as the US Commercial Center for multiple Therapeutic Areas of our Global Product and Portfolio Strategy businesses.
The Consumer Portfolio Marketing Manager, Lung Cancer will be responsible for developing a deep understanding of the consumer target and ensuring insights are appropriately reflected in all communications. Defining and facilitating development of the brand’s promotional plan and programs, and ensure their consistency with brand strategy. Partnering with Business Insights and Market Research Team to define success metrics and analyzing performance of marketing programs on an ongoing basis. Optimizing plans as needed to improve impact. Assessing investment viability of programs based on anticipated ROI/value/impact and formulating recommendations for future plans based on learnings. Reviewing marketplace data and making recommendations for brand implications/actions. Partnering with agencies and market research as needed to investigate implications and optimize programming. Collaborating with other functional areas and leading the review process to ensure legal/regulatory compliance and medical accuracy of all marketing materials. Participating in the annual operational planning process by shaping the tactical plan and budget required to achieve the brand’s stated objectives. The Portfolio Marketing Manager must posses strong business acumen skills, as role is responsible for managing multiple program budgets, timelines, process and procedures. Establish strong relationships with agency partners, and learn the discipline of effectively providing leadership and guidance. Manage partner agency relationships, workflow and related expense budgets.
- Minimum of Bachelor's Degree in relevant field (MBA preferred)
- 5+ years experience in pharmaceutical and/or healthcare industry with experience in one or more of the following: managed markets, brand marketing, sales, pricing or market research/analytics, strategic planning
- Prior in-line marketing experience
- Consumer marketing experience preferred
- Oncology or specialty care experience highly preferred
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
- Ability to manage complex projects
- Demonstrated ability to lead without authority
- Ability to gauge the feasibility, impact and risks of proposed programs
- Comfort operating in a highly regulated environment and industry
- High ethical standards and personal integrity
