-Extract and quantify DNA from buccal swab and other tissue samples.
-Perform PCR reactions.
-Perform specified assays for genotyping services in accordance with the SOP.
-Prepare and evaluate test results for completeness, accuracy and quality.
-Report test results to clients.
-Perform troubleshooting, maintenance, and calibration of instrumentation and equipment used to conduct testing in compliance with quality control/assessment standards.
-Learn how to use new instruments and implement their use in new tests.
-Participate in the development of new SOPs, validation/verification proposals, etc.
-Optimize diagnostic tests and update existing standard operating protocols with significant guidance.
-Work with laboratory supervisor for troubleshooting and solution finding.
-Participate in lab meetings and generate ideas for improving efficiency and productivity in the lab’s operations.
-Comply with all aspects of laboratory safety, safety stations, safety manuals, safety SOP, and MSDS sheets.
-Must have a valid State of CA CLS (generalist), CGMBS (mb) certification, or HLA lab experience (histo)
-Must satisfy requirements for high complexity testing under CLIA regulations (42 CFR, part 493)
-B.S. in Molecular Biology, Medical technology, Biology, or related degree with five (5) years of experience processing clinical samples for genotyping assays preferred
-Superior communication (written and verbal), time management and organizational skills, with focus on detail and orderliness.
-Demonstrated proficiency in MS Office and e-mail.
