Job Description


The Buyer/Planner will be responsible for all aspects of procuring goods and services to support the company’s manufacturing operations. This includes communicating with Suppliers to ensure delivery schedules are met and best prices are obtained. Also maintaining computerized and paper purchasing records. Job responsibilities include:

Plan and purchase material requirements and ensure flow of materials for ongoing production as well as for new products in development
Prepare, review, place department purchasing requisitions
Maintain computerized purchasing records and paper filing
Monitor and resolve production material shortages
Seek, partner and maintain relationships with reliable vendors and suppliers
Manage Kanban process, component supply and inventory levels
Develop and implement strategies to reduce material costs
Assist in the development, implementation, tracking and reporting of key functional metrics to reduce expenses and improve effectiveness
Assess, manage and help to mitigate supply chain risks
Assist in the development and execution of purchasing strategies
Other duties and tasks as assigned


Skills & Experience

Buyer/Planner must have at least 3 years of experience procuring precision machined, sheet metal and/or PCBA commodities in a manufacturing environment. Working knowledge and experience in a Kanban replenishment system. Must have prior experience buying production materials using an MRP system to drive requirements. Microsoft Dynamics experience is a plus, with MAS200 knowledge highly desired. Must be a results-oriented professional with strong problem solving skills and have the ability to perform multiple tasks with a strong attention to detail. Must adhere to deadlines in changing environment. Must be a self-starter who is able to think and work independently. Proficiency with MS Office applications: Outlook, Excel and Word. Must be a team player with ability to engage with cross-functional and well-structured teams.


HS degree required; Bachelor degree preferred. APICS course work desired.
