As a Business Planning Leader, Women’s Cancer in Gaithersburg, MD you’ll play a pivotal role in channeling our scientific capabilities to make a positive impact on changing patients’ lives. North American Commercial is the ‘face’ of AstraZeneca and MedImmune to our many healthcare clients. They represent many of the most well recognized and respected products in the industry, and build strong relationships with healthcare professionals.

AstraZeneca’s vision in Oncology is to help patients by redefining the cancer-treatment paradigm, with the aim of bringing six new cancer medicines to patients between 2013 and 2020. A broad pipeline of next-generation medicines is focused principally on four disease areas - breast, ovarian, lung and hematological cancers. As well as other tumor types, these are being targeted through four key platforms - immunotherapy, the genetic drivers of cancer and resistance, DNA damage repair, and antibody drug conjugates, underpinned by personalized healthcare and biomarker technologies.

The Business Planning Leader, Women’s Cancer (BPL) is an integral member of the Women’s Cancer leadership team and is responsible for maximizing operational effectiveness and integrating field and marketing efforts across the Women’s Cancer franchise.

Key Responsibilities:

Women’s Cancer Leadership Team:

  • Assume leadership role as "Chief of Staff" to the franchise head
  • Participate as a member of the Women’s Cancer Leadership Team, with accountability for identifying team priorities across the franchise and within the marketing and sales leadership teams
  • Plan monthly insights meetings, partnering with the Insights, Medical, and Key Customer teams to aggregate critical insights
  • Serve as a liaison between the Women’s Cancer Leadership Team and extended team to ensure brand team deliverables meet expectations
  • Serve on Oncology Sales Leadership Team with CBDs across oncology, and play key role in coordinating touchpoints with CBD team
  • Develop and maintain calendar of key leadership touchpoints throughout the year

Communications and Engagement:

  • Develop and manage franchise communications, including weekly update emails
  • Coordinate and play key role in field and all-WC update calls (e.g., quarterly calls)
  • Develop and manage franchise engagement plan (e.g., monthly calls with group of PSSs, team building events)

Field Operations:

  • Serve as lead for IC planning
  • Partner with Women’s Cancer CBDs to develop and execute on targeting guidance and ensure implementation of key tools and resources (e.g., triggers)
  • Lead the planning for all key field meetings

Strategic Planning and Goal-setting:

  • Lead development of annual goals and creation of dashboard to track progress against key objectives
  • Lead strategic and tactical brand planning processes, ensuring that all tools are well understood and effectively utilized by brand team members and that key milestones are met

Requirements

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 5-7 years pharmaceutical experience
  • Demonstrated ability to work across functions and lead without formal authority
  • Strong interpersonal, communication (written and oral), organizational, relationship building, and consulting skills
  • Strong project and process management skills
  • Understanding of the pharmaceutical business (including development and operations)
