Description

The Bioinformatics Analyst will be responsible for HPC and Linux system administration support for the scientists and engineers.  We are looking for a candidate who is excited about the modern computational infrastructure supporting massively parallel sequencing and genotyping technologies.  We are a diverse group who work daily with high-performance computational clusters (HPC), storage arrays, large relational databases, sequence alignment software, genetic data analysis and statistical software.  You will help tune our systems, optimize and configure our high performance cluster, cloud computing (AWS), UNIX administrative tasks and resolving and optimizing database issues.

Responsibilities:

*Provide daily support of HPC Linux cluster management

*Support with database design, development, maintenance and monitoring of SQL Server databases

*Configure and optimize cloud computing resources for high-throughput DNA sequencing analysis

*LINUX  administrative tasks, systems monitoring, scripting, optimizations and maintenance.

*Installation and maintenance of sequencing, genetic analysis and statistics software and packages

Requirements



*Bachelor’s degree in Bioinformatics, Computer Science, Computer Engineering with 3+ years of experience, ideally in a biotech sector. Master’s degree preferred.

*One year of enterprise-level experience in a combination of building, configuration, and administration of HPC Linux computer systems. Familiarity with cluster configuration and management tools (Rocks, Chef).

*Familiarity with job management tools (OpenLava/Platform LSF preferred, Rocks, SGE, TORQUE).

*Experience with one or more distributed file systems (Gluster etc.).

*Diagnosing system and application software problems.

*Experience scripting in Perl, bash and/or Python for pipeline data analysis.

*Experience installing bioinformatics software and their dependencies.

*Relational database management experience (SQL Server preferred).

*Experience in cloud computing (Amazon Web Services preferred).

*Experience working with R, especially installing packages and dependencies.

*Parallel libraries (MPI, PVM).
