Automation & Process Control Engineer

The Automation & Process Control Engineer position will support Industrial Biosciences research laboratories at Experimental Station – Wilmington, DE. Responsibilities will include system administration, application programming, and proactively and independently resolving technical issues.


Responsibilities:
Support Research and Development, with focus on developing software applications
Provide both system administration and application programming
Able to proactively and independently resolve issues
Work collaboratively with IT function as systems steward to support lab/pilot plant operations
PLC Programming, HMI design and programming
Translate scientific Needs / Requests into Design and Specifications through collaborative discussions

Requirements

Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree and relevant work experience in an analytical laboratory or a pilot plant
Minimum of 5 years or more of experience with automation and process control, preferably in a research lab or pilot plant environment.
Experience with Structured Programming
Experience with SCADA systems, preferably Ignition
Ability to use SCADA system, Excel macros for interfacing with Oracle database, OSI PI data historian
PLC Programming
Experience with Python or Java preferred
Flexibility to monitor and perform remote SCADA administration
Ability to Trouble Shoot Systems Issues
HMI design and programming desirable
Demonstrated Ability to translate scientific Needs / Requests into Design and Specifications through collaborative discussions
Demonstrated ability to design and implement low maintenance error free applications
Experience with OPC Servers, Tunneller configuration and relational databases (Oracle) are preferred.
