Description

ASSOCIATE SCIENTIST – RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT

A dynamic biotechnology company is looking for a talented Associate Scientist to join its R&D team. The successful candidate will have a strong background in molecular biology and will provide support on identified research and/or product development projects.  In addition, the candidate will provide support in the analysis of next generation sequencing (NGS) data.

The role includes participation in the planning and execution of experiments, analyzing data and presenting findings, and reviewing interpretations and conclusions with members of project teams.  Candidates should have fundamental knowledge of the design and control of experiments and demonstrated computer-assisted data analysis skills.

The role requires both a strong scientific background and the ability to communicate and collaborate successfully with various groups.  A willingness to learn new things is critical.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

•   Executes experiments following standard laboratory procedures and protocols
•   Analyzes and interprets NGS data in collaboration with research, development, technical services, and/or marketing
•   Performs general laboratory duties

Requirements

•   Bachelors or Masters degree in biochemistry or molecular biology or equivalent required
•   2+ years of industry lab experience required
•   Solid working knowledge of molecular biology required
•   Specific experience in next generation sequencing and/or gene expression required
•   Biological data analysis experience required
•   Familiarity with Linux environment and experience running Linux programs required
•   Strong MS Excel skills
•   Ability to multi-task on a variety of projects
•   Ability to work and achieve results both independently and as part of a team
