Job Description

The Associate Scientist (AS) supports target engagement assays for the evaluation of novel small molecules that enhance cognition and for biomarker exploration. The AS will have a scientific background in neuroscience or pharmacology. Hands-on experience using both in vitro and in vivo approaches for CNS targets is highly recommended. The AS should have proven skillsets with preclinical animal models, MUST demonstrate proficiency in animal handling of both rats and mice, and drug administration through different routes of administration (ip, po, sc), and must also be proficient in brain tissue collection, microdissection, perfusion, brain sectioning and behavioral training. The AS should be able to carry out in vitro assays with precision and reliability, be able to work in a creative, fast-paced environment, interacting with scientists from other disciplines such as Biology and DMPK. The position requires team-oriented execution of time-dependent experiments, thus, the candidate must have excellent interpersonal skills and be able to collaborate with other members of the team. The AS will be involved in the designing, execution, and data analysis of in vivo, ex vivo, and in vitro experiments and must be organized and timely with regard to data collection, meeting presentations and study reports.


• BS with 4+ year experience or MS in a Neuroscience-related discipline; Industry experience is highly recommended.
• Strong hands-on in vivo skills with demonstrated proficiency in rodent handling, dosing (specifically, ip, po, sc), behavioral training and brain tissue collection.
• Hands-on experience with in vitro assays (cell culture, brain sectioning, RNA and protein analysis, e.g., PCR, qPCR, WB, ELISA, ISH, IHC and radioligand-based methods).
• Capable of trouble-shooting and assay development.
• Capable of critical and independent data analysis.
• Excellent organization and prioritization skills, including delivery of results in a timely manner, and accurate maintenance of experimental records/reports.
• Team-oriented with excellent oral and written communication skills. Strong work ethic with a can-do attitude.
