Immunology and Inflammation Discovery Biology group is seeking a highly motivated scientist with a BS or MS degree to contribute cell biology and/or immunology expertise to target discovery and validation programs.  The individual should possess strong core competency in the culturing of primary and established cell lines as well as the development of cell-based phenotypic assays employing a variety of technology platforms. The individual will participate in a broad range of programs in a dynamic, small research group and be comfortable working in a fast paced environment. Strong problem solving and time management skills are essential to complete diverse assigned tasks. Industry experience is preferred but not essential. 

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:

1. Independently carry out variety of cellular assays, generating high-quality data to inform all stages of drug discovery, including target                   identification, target validation, hit characterization and lead optimization 

2. Engage in a number of experimental approaches to elaborate biology around various targets including kinases, GPCRs, epigenetic targets,                   etc.

3. Engage in cell-based screens to enable the generation of testable target/phenotype hypotheses

4. Maintain well written and accurate research electronic notebook detailing work undertaken

5. Comply with laboratory safety procedures






Skills/Knowledge Required:

1. Extensive experience in isolation, culture, and characterization of primary cells from human and animal tissues

2. Strong hands-on experience in the design and execution of cell-based assays for target identification and validation, including pathway-                  based as well as more functional readouts (e.g. proliferation, cytokine release, or reporter assays)

3. Prior experience working with primary epithelial, synovial fibroblast, and phenotypic cell based screen approaches is a plus

4. Familiar with multi-parameters flow cytometry analysis (intracellular staining, phospho-protein analysis), high content imaging system.

5. Proficiency in molecular biology laboratory techniques (i.e. Lentivirus, CRISPR, Western blots)

6. Proficiency with FlowJo, Prism, and Microsoft office applications

7. Possess a thorough knowledge of experimental design and underlying scientific principles

8. Excellent organizational, record keeping, oral and written communication skills

9. Team player, detail oriented and organized


• Bachelor Science+6 years or MS+3 years
