This position can be filled at either the he Associate Scientist II or the Scientist I level. This individual is responsible for providing technical support and implementing process improvements at the DSC Facility. The Process AS core responsibilities include but are not limited to the adaptation of transferred information for scale-up processes from Development (Upstream processing - Cell Culture) to DSC as well as assisting in the production of various tox and development materials, resolving technical issues with the production processes and/or equipment, optimizing/improving processes and equipment, identifying root causes for deviations, defining corrective/preventative actions, implementing new/replacement technologies, and trending/analyzing data to identify potential areas for improvement. The Associate Scientist also supports technology transfer, scale-up, and execution of equipment improvement activities. The individual is expected to possess strong technical skills and experience with biopharmaceutical unit operations and equipment.
Key Tasks and Activities:
* Provide technical expertise and leadership in the planning and implementation of projects to improve existing production processes.
* Investigate and replace obsolete materials as needed to assure production continuity
* Recommend, investigate and implement manufacturing cost reduction projects
* Plan and implement specified projects to be completed including organizing and leading members of various sections, planning and scheduling, coordinating resources (personnel, materials, time, money, suppliers), preparing proper documentation, etc.
* Monitor and control production processes, identify issues and ensure they are resolved in a timely manner.
* Attend meetings, and prepare monthly reports as required, ensuring effective communication of ideas, information, and issues to stakeholders
* Perform other job related duties assigned.

For the Scientist I level, we require a PhD with a minimum of 3 years of cell culture experience in a biotech environment, large scale preferred or an MS with a minimum of 8 years or a BS with a minimum of 10 years of cell culture experience in a biotech environment, large scale preferred.
For the Associate Scientist II level, we require a MS in a life sciences discipline with a minimum of 5 years or a BS in the life sciences discipline with a minimum of 8 years of cell culture experience in a biotech environment, large scale preferred.
