Main Duties and Responsibilities

This position is focused on developing GMP friendly process for T-cell therapy products such as CAR-Ts. The candidate will work in a matrix environment in the upstream process development department that focusses on the process development of cell therapy, viral therapy and mammalian cell culture based products. This role also involves interacting and working closely with research teams from relevant therapeutic areas.

The candidate is expected to have industrial experience in developing and optimizing unit operations relevant to T-cell therapy products. The job will involve design of experiments, execution of experiments and relevant assays in the lab, statistical analysis of data, recording of experiments in lab notebook, writing reports, presenting in meetings, working with external vendors and CMOs as well as contribute in CMC teams as appropriate. The candidate will be expected to maintain current knowledge of scientific literature as well as take initiative to identify and solve scientific and technical challenges of the field. While the candidate will work in a focused cell therapy team under the direction and general supervision from manager, a high degree of independence and ownership is expected in this role. Due to the nature of cell-based experiments, occasional weekend and holiday work is required.

Requirements

Essential Requirements

Industrial experience in process development for T-cell therapy products is a requirement. Proficiency in aseptic techniques with expertise in unit operations involved in T-cell therapy processes is required. Proficiency in MS Office and related programs are also considered a must.

Associate Scientist II position requires relevant experience of greater than 5 years with a Masters degree OR greater than 7 years with a Bachelor's degree in process development of cell therapy products.

Scientist I position requires relevant experience of greater than 8 years with a Masters degree OR greater than 10 years with a Bachelor's degree in process development of cell therapy products.

Desirable Requirements

Understanding of clinical practices such as collection of apheresis product and administration of cell therapy product is beneficial. Additional desirable skills include flow analysis, knowledge of Design of Experiments, statistical data analysis, and molecular biology skills.
