The Microbial Sciences group at MedImmune is developing monoclonal antibodies against antibiotic resistant bacterial pathogens and studying the impact of the microbiome on the host immune response.

Major responsibilities:

Develop and conduct animal models to assess the impact of the microbiome on the immune response, metabolic function, and therapeutic antibody efficacy. 


Requirements/ Qualifications:

Associate Scientist I: BS in biological sciences plus 5-8 years relevant laboratory experience or MS in biological sciences plus 3-6 years relevant laboratory experience

Associate Scientist II: BS in biological sciences plus >8 years relevant laboratory experience or MS in biological sciences plus >6 years relevant laboratory experience

Specific skills: Broad experience required in immunologic assays (e.g. flow cytometry, cell sorting, PCR, ELISA), cell culture and animal models of disease.  Experience working with animals is required and prior experience with confocal microscopy is highly desired.  Additional experience in high throughput screening assays and molecular biology would be a plus. The candidate must be dedicated to maintaining high laboratory standards with regard to safety and quality, and must possess good organization, record keeping and communication skills.

Job complexity: Must be able to understand, conduct and interpret results of technically challenging experiments with minimum supervision.

Supervision: Initial supervision and training by supervisor/team members, but independence expected in long term
