Main Duties and Responsibilities
As Associate Scientist II, your responsibilities will include designing and executing experiments to analyze and characterize biologics based therapeutic molecules in Medimmune/AstraZeneca development pipeline. Such molecules include therapeutic proteins, antibodies, oncolytic viruses and vaccines. You will analyze data, interpret and report results to project teams. Rigor in experimental methods, data collection and analysis, and timely delivery of data are essential parts of the duties. You will be assisted by your supervisor in managing and prioritizing these duties. Presentation of findings at project and departmental team meetings will be expected as and when needed. Responsibilities will also include qualification and validation of test methods and writing reports. Documentation and recordkeeping, including real time data entry in electronic notebooks, will be needed on a regular basis. You will be expected to develop new methods as needed to support projects. This will require staying up to date with relevant literature and technologies.
- B.A. or M.A. with a concentration in biological sciences
- Minimum of 5 years of laboratory experience
- Demonstrated strength in bioanalytical techniques including HPLC, fluorescence and light scattering based tools, electrophoretic and ELISA techniques, and binding assays
- Minimum of 5 years of laboratory experience in pharmaceutical or biotech industry
- Experience with cell based and virological assays, and familiarity with reporter gene assays
- Ability to independently design experiments, interpret data and communicate to stakeholders
- Motivation to learn new skills, be innovative and be a team player
