This position can be filled at either the Associate Scientist I level or the Research Associate II level.
The candidate will be part of a team working on fermentation projects. The team is responsible for developing, improving and scaling processes for the production of therapeutic proteins. As a part of the team, the candidate will be responsible for routine lab operations as well as designing and analyzing experimental data. Driving the science of fermentation into the future is a major portion of this position. The candidate will also be tasked with collecting and analyzing data sets, troubleshooting operational and process challenges, and the presentation of data at internal and external meetings. It is expected that the candidate will also maintain lab equipment that is used to support lab operations. The use of a lab notebook and the collection of detailed and accurate records is also a major responsibility.
For the R&D Associate II level position, we require a Bachelor's degree with 2 - 5 years of relevant experience OR a Master's degree with 0 - 2 years of relevant experience. For the Associate Scientist I level, we require a BS Degree with 5 - 8 years of relevant experience OR a Master's degree with 2 - 5 years of relevant experience.
Bachelor, Master of Science in chemical/biochemical engineering or related science discipline.
Highly Preferred skills:
* Aseptic techniques, microbial culture experience, chemical and biochemical engineering principles, hands on experience operating fermenters and/or bioreactors and scaling processes from bench to production.
* Excellent communication skills are also considered a must.
* The use of statistical data analysis and design.
* Media development, experience with large scale fermenter and bioreactor operations, familiarity with cGMP manufacturing principles involving fermentation and inclusion body harvests.
* Familiarity with E. coli and other microorganisms.
* Working knowledge of the Nova Bio Profile, YSI and spectrophotometer operations.
