   Main Duties and Responsibilities  

   MedImmune seeks an innovative and highly motivated Associate Scientist I/II– In Vivo Immuno-Oncology with a background in immunology or related field to join the Immune Oncology (IO) team in Oncology.  You will be responsible for conducting laboratory experiments that support IO projects, and will work in a matrix environment with other functional units within MedImmune and with external collaborators.  You may have the opportunity to identify and interrogate the biology of new immunomodulatory targets or target pathways using cutting-edge technologies and novel approaches to enrich our immunotherapy pipeline.    

   Laboratory activities will include routine cell culture, collection and processing of biological materials, in vitro assays with both primary and immortalized cells, animal handling and experimentation, and use of analytical methods such as ELISA, immuno-fluorescence microscopy, immunoblotting, si/shRNA assays and multi-fluorochrome flow cytometry.  


   Essential Requirements  

   Associate Scientist I:  


   B.S.  - 5+yrs relevant immunology experience;  or  


   M.S. - 2+yrs relevant immunology experience or equivalent education in the field of immunology  

   Associate Scientist II:  


   B.S.  - 8+yrs relevant immunology experience;  or  


   M.S. - 5+yrs relevant immunology experience or equivalent education in the field of immunology  

   For both roles:    
  •      Strong background in immunology or a related field, and experience with immunology assays    
  •      Experience with multi-parameter flow cytometry in immune cell assays    
  •      Experience with in vivo animal modeling (mouse syngeneic, autochthonous and/or xenograft cancer models)    
  •      Ability to independently review, analyze, and interpret experimental results    
  •      Outstanding verbal and written communication skills, innovation, creativity    
  •      Ability to interact in a collaborative environment within the group and across the organization    
   Desirable Requirements  
  •      Biotechnology or pharmaceutical industry experience    
  •      Research experience in the field of Immunology, in particular, that involving tumor immunobiology
