Main Duties and Responsibilities

The Associate Scientist I/Associate Scientist II will be part of the Immune Oncology (IO) team. Responsibilities include running in vitro human primary cell-based immunoassays to develop IO biologics for cancer therapy and possibly in vivo mouse models to elucidate mechanism of action of these agents.

The candidate is expected to have industrial experience in developing and optimizing biologics. The job will involve design of experiments, execution of experiments and relevant assays in the lab, statistical analysis of data, recording of experiments in lab notebook, writing reports, presenting in meetings, and working with external vendors. The candidate will be expected to maintain current knowledge of scientific literature as well as take initiative to identify and solve scientific and technical challenges of the field. While the candidate will work in a focused the development of biologics under the direction and general supervision from manager, a high degree of independence and ownership is expected in this role. Due to the nature of cell-based experiments, occasional weekend and holiday work is required.

Requirements

Essential Requirements

Associate Scientist I: BS in biological sciences plus 5-8 years relevant laboratory experience or MS in biological sciences plus 3-6 years relevant laboratory experience

Associate Scientist II: BS in biological sciences plus >8 years relevant laboratory experience or MS in biological sciences plus >6 years relevant laboratory experience

  • Broad experience required in immunologic assays (e.g. flow cytometry (>10 colors), cell sorting, PCR, ELISA), cell culture and animal models of disease.
  • Experience in high throughput screening assays and cellular/molecular biology are desired.
  • The candidate must be dedicated to maintaining high laboratory standards with regard to safety and quality, and must possess good organization, record keeping and communication skills.
  • Must be able to understand, conduct and interpret results of technically challenging experiments with minimum supervision.
  • Initial supervision and training by supervisor/team members, but independence expected in long term.
