Role Description

The qualified candidate will join the Analytical R&D organization to enable NMR support of polysaccharide conjugated vaccines, proteins and DNA in Groton, CT. The qualified candidate will be responsible for generating and interpreting 1H, 13C, HSQC and other 2D NMR spectra for these programs. The qualified candidate will work with a multi-disciplinary team performing analysis in an R&D and/or regulated environment. The qualified candidate must also be able to work seamlessly across sites and across disciplines.



Responsibilities

The qualified colleague is responsible for developing, troubleshooting, and utilizing NMR to support process development, analytical methods development and commercial process troubleshooting for polysaccharide conjugated vaccines, proteins and DNA projects. The individual must be proficient in a number of sample handling techniques such as lyophilization, UF/DF, and centrifugation. The colleague must be able to interact effectively with peers and leaders across multiple sites as part of a multi-disciplinary team. The candidate must thrive in a fast-paced matrixed environment. Attention to detail, strong organizational skills, the ability to multitask and effective interpersonal and communication skills are required. Documentation of analytical results in regulated systems and technical reports is required.

Qualifications

MINIMUM: BS in chemistry, biochemistry, biology or related field DESIRABLE: Experience running NMR experiments on biologics such as polysaccharide conjugate vaccines and proteins. Laboratory experience in a variety of analytical laboratory techniques. Ability to follow established procedures under minimal supervision. Experience with Quality Systems and Good Documentation Practices. Some knowledge of drug development process for progression of biological candidates. OTHER ATTRIBUTES DESIRABLE: *Excellent documentation skills *Self-motivated and highly effective in a team-based environment *Effective oral and written communication skills *Experience running 1H, 13C, and 2D NMR experiments on large molecules. PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS Position requires occasional light lifting and periods of standing, sitting or walking. NON-STANDARD WORK SCHEDULE, TRAVEL OR ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENTS Occasional travel for project support and scientific conferences is expected.
