Job Description

We are seeking an Associate Scientist in Research to join a vibrant and growing group currently focusing on Neurodegenerative diseases within the Neuroscience Therapeutic Area, a key component of the Discovery Research unit at Amgen's site in Cambridge, MA (Amgen Massachusetts-AMA).  The successful candidate must be highly motivated with a deep interest in developing new and effective therapeutics for Alzheimer's disease (AD).

Position Responsibilities

* Conduct biochemical and cell-based assays to evaluate novel targets and mechanisms

Perform basic molecular cloning, expression and gene expression analysis using qPCR

* Critically analyze and interpret data, and meet delivery deadlines

* Work closely with and communicate results to multi-disciplinary and cross-functional teams

* Execute high impact studies within an extremely fast-paced and collaborative environment

Requirements

Basic Qualifications:

Master's degree & 2 years of Scientific experience

OR

Bachelor's degree & 4 years of Scientific experience

Preferred Qualifications:

Master's Degree in Neuroscience

3+ years of experience in neuroscience and neurodegenerative diseases

Experience/expertise in culturing primary neurons and/or glia, iPSC-derived neurons and immortalized cell lines

Experience with techniques for gene delivery to primary cells, such as electroporation

Experience/expertise with high content imaging

Experience with basic molecular techniques including cloning, expression, mutagenesis, and qPCR

Experience developing a wide range of cell-based assays, and in interrogating a variety of cellular signaling pathways

A high degree of computer literacy and excellent analytical/problem-solving skills

Good organizational skills with the ability to independently design and execute experiments, and interpret results

Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, and superior multi-tasking abilities
