NIBR has sites in Cambridge, Massachusetts; Emeryville, CA; Basel, Switzerland; Horsham, UK; and Shanghai, China. Our Emeryville location focuses on early drug discovery efforts for the Oncology Disease Area and offers a variety of positions in Biology, Chemistry, and functions such as Technology, Patents, Research Sciences and other areas that support our scientific resources.
About the position:
Oversight and management of SciOps line functions; Glass Wash, Buffer Prep, Cell Bank and Lab Services, including third party vendor programs. Providing services and cross departmental program management to NIBR Emeryville laboratories. Ensure high quality production, services are cost effective and in alignment with site Research needs.
Major Accountabilities:
* Oversight and management of Scientific Operations line functions; Glass Wash, Buffer Prep, Cell Bank. Ensure high quality production, services are cost effective and in alignment with site Research needs
* Oversight of Stock Room, Chemical Lending Library, supplies stocking program and other third party vendor programs
* Develop, implement and maintain policies and oversight of programs to support science, including Freezer Farm management, Lab Cleanouts, Instrumentation Maintenance program in coordination with research departments
* Develop and maintain appropriate forums for exchange of information and review of service levels with research staff user community. Provide communications and information access, leveraging the tools needed, to meet both SciOps and local NIBR community needs
* Develop and Manage budget and forecasts. Adheres to compliance targets relevant to NIBR Emeryville (eg. HSE, data quality).
* Able to manage multiple complex, cross functional projects/activities, leverage continuous improvement principles, high level stakeholder management and communications. May participate as team member or lead on global projects
Education: BS Degree in related field, biology background prefered with 10+ years experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience:
* Ability to manage a large, culturally diverse team.
* Considerable experience within a range of Research and/or Development areas within the Bio-Pharmaceutical industry. 5+ years supervisory/ management experience. Strong people and process management skills, customer service background essential. Continuous improvement a plus.
* Experience managing a service organization in a scientific setting. Including cell banking, glasswash and buffer preparation services. Prefer experience with releveant equipment, automated tools, as well as understanding of user interfaces and databases relevant to services provided
* Eperience of working in and leading teams on complex projects requiring multi-disciplinary input in a matrix management setting.
* Ablity coach and mentor to successfully develop team members.
* Good expertise with Financial processes, HR management. Strong computer skills including with Microsoft Applications (Excel, Word, Sharepoint, Outlook)
