The Associate Director, Maintenance & Engineering in South San Francisco, CA is responsible for directing the management and oversight of the capital and expense project portfolios. This position is responsible for the planning, budgeting, forecasting and scheduling of all projects, the resourcing and availability of the assets. Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • This role will complete all project preplanning, design and customer facing interactions up to the point where the project will be assigned a project manager and the project execution commences. This role will prepare all budget request documentation, submissions and investment proposals, for all potential, ongoing and closed projects.
  • This role is also responsible for the direct oversight of all maintenance, metrology activities at the SSF site.
  • The Associate Director will manage external vendors for various specialties maintaining critical systems and processes ensuring end user requirements and needs are met for current and future research activities.
  • This role is also responsible for the quality operations related to the engineering, maintenance and metrology activities on the campus acting as the primary point of contact for all CAPA, and VSCR activities and responses.
  • This role will also develop and recommend new processes and technologies to achieve cost effective and improved product quality; recommend processes for the production of therapeutic products; establish operating equipment specifications to improve manufacturing techniques; and provide assistance in new product scale-up, process optimization, technology transfer, and process validation activities. Interfacing with various departments to ensure processes and designs are compatible for new product technology transfer and support future process and equipment automation technology is essential for future success of the campus.

Requirements

Essential Requirements

  • 10-15+ years of experience in Facility Maintenance/Metrology and Project Management with several years of experience managing medium to large projects in the biotech or pharmaceutical industry.

Desirable Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in Engineering (4+ years) or Masters Degree in Engineering (2+ years)
