Description
Leads the operational project management function within Clinical Operations. Creates a PM and resourcing strategy and ensures program and project management expertise are in place to support Vertex's needs across CO. Ensures that there is a consistent, standardized approach to program and project management within CO across franchises and TA's. Develop training plans and programs across CO to enhance project management skills. Ensures appropriate resourcing processes and systems are in place so that CO staff is effectively and strategically deployed to programs and projects. Provides line leadership of CTA and CTMs including mentoring, coaching and managing performance.
- Contributes to CO strategy and performance against key metrics.
- Develops project management skills and processes, to increase consistency and drive Clinical Operations performance.
- Provides line leadership of CTA and CTMs including mentoring, coaching and managing performance.
- Ensures standardization of processes, protocols and data use across TAs and Phases to better align Clinical Operations' project and resource management.
- Builds and implements resource planning and management skills, processes and standards to ensure effective resource management across CO programs.
- Ensures best practices are introduced, developed and utilized within Vertex.
- Uses understanding and knowledge of different clinical phase requirements to inform resourcing and project management processes and decision-making.
- Collaborates with peers and apply their insights to prioritize project and program management activities, systems, resources to adapt to and address business needs.
- Ensures outsourced resources, technology and procedures used by external partners, vendors or CROs align with resourcing and project management needs within CO.
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in a scientific or allied health field and 9 years of project management work experience in the Biotech or Pharmaceutical Industry.
Preferred Requirements:
- Mastery of project management knowledge and experience.
- Has extensive clinical operations experience and project management expertise.
- Demonstrates excellence in complex long-term project and operational management including: managing multiple timelines, project tracking processes and budgets.
- Demonstrates ability to lead and develop staff within own team to ensure appropriate skills are developed and standardization is in place across function.
- Provides excellent line management to junior staff while building capabilities within the organization.
- Has proven ability to provide training, expertise and project management advice cross-function.
- Has proven ability to create, implement and track project management tools, techniques and standards cross-function.
- Comprehensive understanding of pharmaceutical regulatory requirements and impact on project management / operations.
- Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills.
- Keeps up to date with industry practice and communicates key message back to Clinical Operations and other relevant groups as well as provides recommendations accordingly
- Demonstrate high level understanding of Project Management in Clinical Operations; Resource management, Budget Management and Risk Management.
- Comprehensive working knowledge of working with suite of Microsoft applications, including MS Project.
