Description

We are seeking an Associate Director of Medicinal Chemistry to help lead our expanding oncology drug discovery efforts.

Responsibilities

- Supervise and lead a group of senior medicinal chemists in multiple projects across all aspects of medicinal chemistry
- Drive medicinal chemistry decision making including target identification, route selection, and resource allocation to facilitate nomination of development candidates
- Collaborate extensively with structural chemistry (modeling and X-ray) to advance structure-based approaches to new target molecules including fragments
- Participate in multi-disciplinary oncology project teams selecting new targets and with the potential for project team leadership
- Effectively communicate program progress within the department and across other disciplines
- Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations and regulatory guidelines governing commercial and scientific interactions with healthcare professionals, payers, advocacy and other business partners.
- Serve as a role model for compliant behavior that is consistent with the mission, vision and values of the ARIAD organization.

Requirements


- Ph.D. in chemistry with 10+ years of pharmaceutical research experience
- Previous Medicinal Chemistry group leader and/or Discovery Team leadership experience with a demonstrated ability to initiate and guide medicinal chemistry programs
- Extensive knowledge of relevant structure-guided approaches to inhibitor design is essential
- Proven track record of advancing small molecules into development
- Experience with chemistry outsourcing desirable but not essential
- A very high level of motivation and proven track record of accomplishment (publications and presentations)
- Effective management skills, outstanding written and oral communication skills and the ability to work in a multidisciplinary environment
- Strong commitment to business ethics
- Understanding of, and experience with, regulatory framework applicable to interactions with HCPs, payers, advocacy and other business partners.
