Description


Vertex is seeking to fill an important leadership role in our Global Source-to-Settle organization. This person will be responsible for leading an effective and efficient accounts payable function for North America, that fully supports our business and partners with Purchasing, Accounting, Finance, IT, business users and suppliers.  Additionally, this person will be responsible for Global process standardization, metrics and capacity planning.

Key Responsibilities:
- Define, implement and monitor the North American shared service center
- Build accounts payable processes and procedures that drive efficiencies and ease of use
- Standardize processes for global AP, where appropriate
- Manage, coach, develop and train accounts payable team members
- Identify operational metrics that measure accounts payable performance and drive continuous improvements
- Create reporting dashboards that provide information to identify areas of improvement in the Accounts payable department as well as the business
- Perform root cause analysis of performance issues and drive resolution
- Define and manage payment processes via check, wire and electronic funds transfers
- Own the Travel and Expense system, auditing, reporting and policy maintenance
- Establish regular internal and external training curriculums and schedules
- Communicate and collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders
- Partner closely with Strategic Sourcing and Procurement to improve Source-to-Settle performance
- Actively participate in several 2013 implementation projects including Invoice Automation and Oracle R12
- Implement new business partnering models to provide additional visibility into and for the AP function
Minimum Qualifications:

- Bachelors Degree in Accounting or Finance

- Eight to ten years of experience in the Accounts Payable or Procurement

Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of Oracle's Source to Settle System

- Experience working with Invoice Automation and Expense Automation software

- Strong Excel and PowerPoint skills

- Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills

- Strong analytical skills

- Strong project management skills with ability to lead project teams through successful implementations

- Enthusiasm, energy and motivation to work in a fast paced environment

- Experience with Kofax, Concur or American Express considered a plus
