Responsibilities
The Cartridge Project in Indianapolis Parenteral Operations will deliver a high speed cartridge manufacturing facility to provide additional cartridge capacity for the Parenteral Network. This role is part of the Parenteral Cartridge Project Team providing SME duties throughout design, delivery, and C & Q, of the facility. Responsibilities will include performing and/or providing leadership in start-up, C&Q / CSV development / execution, and issue resolution. As the equipment is qualified, the position will transition to an automation engineering primary loop support role, providing direct technical support to achieve and sustain high volume, reliable, and compliant cartridge filling operations.

Key Objectives/Deliverables:
•   Provide technical and project management expertise to the cartridge team in the design, delivery, and qualification of the area, equipment, and processes associated with the formulation of insulin.
•   Focus will be on equipment automation systems including PLC controls, Batch control system, recipe system, MES, including the transfer and storage of batch / cycle data.
•   Coordinate all site work with the global cartridge team for the design and delivery of the form/prep equipment, associated support equipment, and associated L2/L3 automation systems.
•   Understand the Engineering and Quality requirements for manufacturing parenteral drug products (focus on insulin cartridges), and ensure they are integrated into the design of the equipment and automation systems.
•   Ensure safety is built into the equipment and processes and help monitor and develop a strong safety culture.
•   Prepare, review, approve, and provide technical support for preparation and execution of relevant technical documents.
•   Develop, monitor and appropriately react to established statistically based metrics in real-time to assess process variability and capability.
•   Participate in development and implementation of process improvements, including capital expansions and technical projects.
•   Work within or lead cross-functional teams in positive fashion to implement process team objectives and deliver on business plan and quality objectives.

Requirements

Basic Qualifications
•   Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent technical degree.
•   Demonstrated ability in organizing and leading technical projects including working with equipment suppliers.
•   Working knowledge of a technical automation role.
•   Demonstrated ability to solve difficult technical problems and implement solutions
•   Experience applying cGMPs.
•   Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills

Additional Skills/Preferences
•   Experience with stick built and skid based process systems.
•   Experience supporting sterile / aseptic operations.
•   Experience with C&Q and CSV, including FAT and SAT.
•   Experience programming Allen-Bradley Controllogix platform.
•   Experience programming FTView SE.
•   Working knowledge of S88 and S95 Foundational knowledge of project management
•   Experience programming in RSBatch
•   Experience working on a process team and/or a project team delivering a capital project.
•   Experience researching and replicating the work of other areas / facilities
•   Experience working hands on with equipment and processes and experience training other technical staff and operators.
•   Good written and oral communications, including demonstrated ability creating and reviewing technical documents, including P&ID’s and electrical prints.
•   Strong interpersonal and communication skills to be effective in a team based situation.

Must be able to travel 25% in 2013 and 2014
