Responsibilities*

GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The University of Michigan, School of Nursing is seeking a highly qualified faculty member for a full time position with our Statistical Consulting Team and Grants and Research Office.

The Statistical Consulting Team provides consultation to School of Nursing faculty related to statistical and research matters, including research design, data management methods, and selection and interpretation of statistical analyses. Statistical analysis for funded projects is also performed. The individual will assist faculty members with preparation of research grant applications including conducting and writing up power analyses to determine the sample size and planning and writing up the analysis section of the grant application. The individual will also assist in the design and implementation of complex statistical techniques and data processing systems to manipulate and analyze research data as well as to assist in the preparation of research papers for publication and presentation at conferences and workshops. Members of the Statistical Consulting Team also present seminars to School of Nursing faculty and students.

Required Qualifications*

QUALIFICATIONS
*A doctoral degree in biostatistics, statistics, or a related field.
*Excellent written communication and proposal writing skills and the ability to work simultaneously on multiple projects are required.
*Knowledge of SPSS, SAS, and Stata are required. Knowledge of other statistical and quantitative database software (such HLM, Access, Amos, PASS, nQuery Advisor, Optimal Design) desired.
*Statistical consulting experience desired.
*Experience in conducting analysis of hierarchical data/clustered designs (e.g., with patients nested within hospital units, and hospital units nested within hospitals), handling of missing data, interrupted time series/segmented regression analysis, propensity score analysis, survival analysis, and GEE analysis is desired.
*The ability to conduct research within a program of a senior colleague and/or provided evidence of increasingly independent contributions and productivity in conceiving, developing and completing a research project.

Additional Information

The position is expected to be filled in the 2012-2013 academic year. Applicants will be considered for the ranks listed above, depending on experience and research productivity.
