Bellicum Pharmaceuticals is seeking a talented, experienced, and highly-motivated Assay Development Scientist to join our Assay Development team.  The successful candidate is expected to have substantial experience in flow cytometry and analytical method development, and will demonstrate effectiveness as a team member to advance the controlled manufacture and analysis of product candidates to support human clinical studies.  Demonstrated hands-on experience with cell-based immunological assays such as cell activation, cell mediated cytotoxicity, immunophenotyping and cytokine detection is required.

Roles and Responsibilities

•   Design, develop, optimize, troubleshoot, and qualify cellular and molecular assays by flow cytometry, ELISA, luminescence, qPCR, and other analytical technologies
•   Collaborate with R&D on the development of increasingly complex assay models for tumor cell co-cultures, cell-killing and functional assays for immunotherapy products
•   Author SOPs, test records, protocols and reports in support of tech transfer to QC
•   Work collaboratively with other assay dev team members, R&D, and Quality Control to facilitate knowledge transfer and maintain project timelines
•   Develop and leverage expertise in novel approaches and technological innovations to expand assay development capabilities
•   Lead junior associates in design and performance of above experiments and activities.


Position Requirements

•   PhD in relevant chemical or biological discipline with 3-5 years of experience (or equivalent) in pharmaceutical or biotechnology environment
•   Strong background in cell-based assays
•   Significant experience with flow cytometry required – please specify instruments and software packages and level of expertise as appropriate – this might be a pre-screen type of question rather than something we list here
•   Demonstrated experience with method development, qualification and validation of plate-based assays
•   Proficiency with data analysis and presentation software including flow cytometry software packages and Microsoft Office products
•   Knowledge of regulatory and industry standards and GxP preferred
