Description

The Analytical Biochemist II will help further advance Organovo’s revolutionary 3D printing technology by leading the development of a variety of key human tissue construct characterization programs. This individual will report to the Vice President of Systems Engineering, and will work closely with our applications and operations teams to support and further develop Organovo’s NovoGen MMX BioprintingTM technology in alignment with the Company’s strategy.  In addition to serving as Organovo’s internal analytical biochemistry expert, the individual will also be responsible for the analytical aspects of comparative 2D and 3D screening applications as well as identifying, procuring, operating and maintaining our portfolio of analytical systems.  He/She will also be involved in the management of outsourced analytical characterization methods for our tissue constructs program. This individual will also work as a key member of the Systems Engineering Team to steward various new bioengineering technologies through development and manufacturing for internal use as well as commercial/partnered applications in US and ex-US markets. The individual must be well versed with various analytical methodologies commonly utilized to measure proteins and nucleic acids in cell media and cell extracts.  The individual must also be able to communicate effectively in oral and written format, and will be responsible for managing multiple external relationships to achieve product development goals.

Requirements

•   Ph.D. or MS in analytical chemistry, physical biochemistry or cell biology, with a minimum of 4+ years of post-graduate experience.
•   Experience with various analytical characterization methods including fluorescence and chemiluminescence spectroscopy, fluorescence polarization, fluorescence resonance energy transfer, UV/VIS, ELISAs, qPCR, gene expression and protein expression profiling.
•   Experience with instrumentation intended for use in cell biology applications (i.e., cell handling, processing, or analysis); special consideration given to individuals with practical experience handling and characterizing mammalian cells and biocompatible materials and reagents
•   Direct experience applying analytical methodologies to drug screening assays
•   Demonstrated track record of conceiving, developing, and executing analytical characterization methods
•   Experience with troubleshooting analytical instrumentation
•   Working knowledge of design of experiments (DOE) and familiarity with Minitab statistical analysis software
•   Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills and must be a team player with a positive attitude
