Summary & Scope of Position:
The Accounting Manager is responsible for the general accounting activities of the company in accordance with GAAP.  This includes month-end close, financial reporting, cash management, monitoring the accuracy and efficiency of financial statement close process, and other functions.  This position will report to the Controller.

Primary Responsibilities:
• Manage close process and ensure timely preparation of accurate financial statements
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP as well as budget vs. actual financial reports for management and Board of Directors
• Prepare and review monthly journal entries and account reconciliations, including accrued clinical and manufacturing expenses
• Analyze and research fluctuations in the financial statements
• Assist with accounting software system implementation
• Analyze and interpret financial information and recommend system improvements
• Cash management activities, such as account balance monitoring and bank reconciliations
• Develop and maintain internal controls for key processes ensuring all financial reporting controls are operating effectively
• Implement and update accounting policies and procedures to respond to changes in the company’s business, SEC/GAAP regulations, and preparation for SOX 404 requirements
• Prepare and provide external auditors and tax consultants with accounting information on a timely basis for financial statement audits, income tax provisions, and tax returns
• Assist with future SEC filings (Edgar and XBRL) including but not limited to S-1 and 10-K/Q
• Ad hoc projects as requested


• BA/BS in business, accounting or related field
• Experience with a Big Four public accounting firm is highly preferred/Active CPA
• Strong knowledge of GAAP with 5-7 years of increasingly responsible accounting and reporting experience; SOX 404 implementation and compliance experience a plus
• Biotech industry experience highly preferred
• Exceptional communication and presentation skills
• High level of attention to detail, aptitude for planning/managing deadlines
• Ability to work well in a dynamic, results oriented and cross-functional team environment
• QuickBooks, Microsoft Office, MS Dynamics/Great Plains desired
