This position will work with and support the Senior Contracts Paralegal in drafting and reviewing various types of agreements including confidentiality, consulting, material transfer, sponsored research, academic & commercial vendor and other services-related agreements, with a focus on Research & Development, in connection with Vertex’s drug discovery business.
Key Responsibilities:
Directly responsible for initial legal review and drafting of various contracts to support internal clients’ needs. Works collaboratively with and facilitates effective communication among legal department personnel, including intellectual property department to address intellectual property matters in various agreements. Works collaboratively with internal clients and associated outsourcing representatives to set appropriate priorities and deliver results within the timelines established. Appropriately refers legal issues to Senior Contracts Paralegal for review and direction. Contributes to the continued development and refinement of contract templates. Ensures appropriate entering and archiving of contracts in legal document management systems.
Requirements
Qualified candidates must have a minimum of 1 – 3 years corporate law experience or larger firm working primarily in contracts, paralegal certification preferred. Must possess high attention to detail, strong work ethic, be able to take initiative, and have excellent time management and follow-through skills. Must also demonstrate solid written and oral communication skills. Paralegal Certificate and BS or higher required (in a science field preferred).
