Description
The Business Development position will support senior management by identifying and evaluating new business opportunities including licensing, collaborative research and development agreements, joint ventures, mergers, and acquisitions. The successful candidate will oversee the Companys product licensing activities in China and therefore must be fluent in Chinese and English and possess extensive experience, proven results, and good judgment required to achieve corporate business development goals. Furthermore, a wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected, as this position is responsible for performing a variety of tasks.
Responsibilities include:
* Identifying, evaluating, and establishing new scientific and strategic partnerships, joint ventures, and alliances in China.
* Following up on all partnership activity, including the tracking, documentation, and status reporting of all collaborations along the business development pipeline.
* Directing the assessment of future markets and licensing potential, and providing commercial input to drug development programs.
* Establishing and implementing processes necessary to support corporate commercialization and licensing strategies.
* Interacting with existing corporate contacts and expanding the scope of Company connections; facilitating communication, tracking milestones, and working to enhance these relationships.
* Overseeing the planning and execution of a comprehensive business marketing strategy, including preparation of materials for partnering meetings, professional conferences, and publications.
Requirements
The ideal person for this position must possess a minimum of 8 years of business development experience in a biotech/pharmaceutical environment, with extensive contacts in the industry and a track record of successful deals. The position requires a science background and an advanced degree (Ph.D., M.D., and/or MBA) which will enable evaluation of licensing of targets, leads, and drugs. The candidate must be fluent in Chinese and English. Prior experience negotiating, executing, and carrying out corporate partnerships and collaborative agreements is necessary. A thorough understanding of the processes of due diligence, asset valuation, alliance management, and portfolio management combined with scientific and business acumen is important.
