DESCRIPTION
OBJECTIVES:

Takeda San Diego's internship program blends real world experience with an extensive overview of the pharmaceutical industry. Knowledgeable mentors will provide guidance as you gain professional hands-on experience.

Theinternship is10-20 hours a weekthroughout the year (not summer only) and offers a unique perspective into a world-class pharmaceutical company. The intern must be able to commit to a minimum of 1 hour a day in the lab, 5 days a week and will need to begin prior to 3:00 p.m. each day. The Compensation is competitive.

ACCOUNTABILITIES:

* Responsible for preparation of solvents and solvent fills on MedChem analytical instruments.

* Preparation of various laboratory reagents.

* Responsible for NMR instrument support. Refrigerant fills and solvent ordering.

* Option of chemistry training with supervisor during summer vacation.

* Responsible for stock refilling and solvent inventory.

REQUIREMENTS:
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

* Applicants should be dependable and highly motivated with a keen interest in chemistry research

* Students must be legally authorized to work in the United States.

* First or second year chemistry or biochemistry students preferred.

* Applicant should demonstrate an excellent academic record in pursuit of a degree in chemistry or biochemistry

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

* Manual dexterity required to operate standard laboratory and office equipment

* Carrying, handling and reaching for objects

* Exposure to hazardous/toxic/dangerous chemicals

* Ability to lift up to 20 lbs.
