Description
Principal Scientist - Bioinformatics
The position will be located at the Sigma-Aldrich's Biotech R&D facility in St. Louis and will provide support bioinformatics support to R&D, marketing, and sales in areas such as business and biology data mining and manipulation, graphical interface development, array analysis, functional genomics, etc.
Candidate should have an MS or PhD degree with knowledge and experiences in biochemistry, immunology, molecular biology, biotechnology, genomics or other related fields in life science, plus 3+ year's experience in computer programming. An advanced degree in biostatistics or computer science with bioinformatics direction is a plus. Industrial experience in biotechnology is strongly desired.

Requirements
Requirements include programming experience in a UNIX/Linux environment, using programming languages such as Perl, PHP, and Java, experience with relational databases such as MySQL or Oracle, and with internet programming (JavaScript, Ajax, HTML, Apache, Tomcat). A broad knowledge of biological databases and bioinformatics tools is essential. Strong organizational and problem solving skills, proven written and verbal communication skills, and excellent team skills are a must.
