Bloomington is part of Minnesota's (JOBS) Hennepin County, and is the third main city of the Minneapolis-St. Paul-Bloomington Metropolitan Statistical Area. Early settlers named the community after Bloomington, Illinois.
Bloomington is a bedroom community with residential, business and industrial areas. It is home to the headquarters of several companies, including payroll and HR services firm, Ceridian, and manufacturer, Toro. For the average person, however, Bloomington is perhaps best known as the home of the Mall of America, the nation's largest entertainment and retail complex, which welcomes more than 43 million people annually.
